There is a slight risk of severe storms today, and a Tornado watch has been issued for NWOH. This is in effect until 10PM. Hail up to 2" in diameter, tornadoes, and wind gusts of up to 70mph are possible in this area.
18z Mesoanalysis indicated instability growing ahead of the cold front in the IL/IN region. Surface CAPE has grown to about 1000J/kg, with effective shear in excess of 40kts. This has already led to development along and just ahead of the front. Isolated supercells are possible, and with high shear in place, isolated tornadoes are not out of the question. Storms should move into the area around 8-10PM in Western OH. In eastern Ohio, weak showers and thunderstorms are moving through the area. This will add to convective inhibition, which ultimately will keep the severe threat low.
Tomorrow will be a VERY active day in the Ohio area, with a Day 2 Moderate Risk for isolated strong tornadoes, and wind/hail. This will be the first major severe weather producer across all of Ohio. I will try to upload a video of my forecast tonight, depending on storm development this evening.
Either way, stay safe and listen the the SPC, and your local NWS office.
