Officially spring began just under a day ago. But does that mean winter is over? Unfortunately for many enjoying the spring weather, no. A cold outbreak should be arriving by Wednesday, with many areas in Northern Michigan to Toronto seeing a late winter storm. My map is below:

This should be a pretty wet snowfall, which will keep ratios down a bit. It's going to be a tough call for where the rain-snow line sets up, and if temperatures will be cold enough to support slightly better liquid:snow ratios. My map will obviously need a bit of revising tomorrow, depending on what the models do. Even in northern Ohio, a change to light snow during the early morning hours on Thursday will be possible.
Now, usually after a storm like this we thaw out. This occurred with some major winter storms around here, but it won't be the case here.
Cold, arctic air flows down to Canada, and this is the result:

A major cold spell that lasts for about a week, ending at the end of March. I think there's a possibility for snow sometime in that time period, but it could be difficult with the cold suppressing any low pressure systems that try to make it north. I'll be keeping an eye out for tomorrow's storm, along with the major cold spell we will be getting.
